This original wood engraving depicts a very sleepy dormouse taking a nap amongst some spring flowers. Wood engraving is a traditional printmaking technique where you carve into the wood with a very sharp tool. It is delicate work and takes time but it allows you to get an amazing amount of detail in a very small area.
This print is an original wood engraving. I worked onto an English boxwood round using traditional hand tools, I then inked up the block and printed it on my 150 year old Albion Press.
